Explore the range of services offered at ADHD Assessment Ireland. Our goal is to provide compassionate and effective assessment and reporting tailored to individual, child and adolescent and adult needs.

We strive to make ADHD assessments accesible to a wide demograph. We understand that the cost of an assessment can be considerable. However, we endeavour to give the best value we can, while still delivering a quality and detailed service.

We are proud that the service we offer sets a high standard within the sector. Elaine has been specialising solely in assessing and diagnosing ADHD for 10 years.

Assessments are carried out using a number of rating scales, for example the Conners' rating scales, the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire and the Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults. These rating scales are used in a combination with a detailed psychiatric history and developmental history.

This is the “Gold Standard” for ADHD assessment, as recommended by the Royal College of Psychiatrists (UK) and National Institute of Clinical Excellence (UK).

Initial Consultation

(30 minutes)

An initial consultation for ADHD assessment typically involves a brief conversation between the parent/young person or adult (depending on the follow up assessment) and the healthcare professional to gather preliminary information.

During this call, the professional may ask about the individual’s symptoms, the duration of the symptoms, the impact on daily life, family history of ADHD/other mental health conditions, and any previous diagnoses or treatments. The goal is to determine whether the client exhibits signs
consistent with ADHD and to decide if a more comprehensive evaluation is necessary.

This call helps to streamline the diagnostic process and ensures that individual’s receive appropriate and
timely care.

Child and Adolescent ADHD Assessment

Complete Initial Consultation

Our ADHD assessments go beyond routine evaluations. We employ a holistic approach that considers a child’s unique strengths and challenges. Through in-depth interviews, behavioural observations, and standardized testing, the aim is to provide an accurate diagnosis and a deeper understanding of the child’s specific needs. This enables us to create tailored treatment plans that may include behavioural plans and educational support.
Assessing ADHD in children and teenagers involves a comprehensive, multi-step process to accurately diagnose and differentiate ADHD from other conditions. Both face to face and online assessments are available.

 Adult ADHD Assessment

An ADHD assessment for adults typically involves a comprehensive evaluation using multiple tools to ensure an accurate diagnosis. Both face to face and online assessments are available.

The assessment is broken down into two-hour blocks. In the first of these, we focus solely on ADHD through a diagnostic clinical interview. In the second block, we discuss other aspects of your life, considering the ways ADHD may have impacted you.

I like to meet with an informant, someone who knows you well, in a separate 1 hour interview. The aim of this is to get their perception of any differences. Where possible, a parent or caregiver is the preferred informant, as this can provide information from early childhood.

The final part of the process is to meet, approximately 3 weeks after your assessment, to discuss the results and feedback from the assessment. I will have a report ready for you to take away, as well as various resources and recommendations.
